As we just got kittens (video coming very soon), we didn’t make a lot of big Halloween plans. More than that, last year, we got zero trick-or-treaters, and even if we did have the potential for some this year, we’re not that comfortable repeatedly opening the door at the moment.
Cookie Monster
Our apartment community decided to do something really ace for Halloween though that was properly fun for kids and adults and involved little door opening: a doughnut giveaway. One of the women who works here, Ebony, picked out a really ace local donut place called Hurts Donut Company. This is yet another excellent chain that has come to Arizona from another part of the country, Missouri. They do a colorful and tasty assortment, very Halloween appropriate in that they are almost like dressed up donuts. 
If there is a Hurts in your area, we can very much recommend them. Chris had a cookie monster donut and I had some sort of cinnamon maple one and they were both delicious. We’ve got a cheesecake one and an animal cracker one tucked away for later.
We did the Halloween Lego of the year as well. It was the first Lego we’d done since getting the kittens, since Lego with its small parts is not very kitten friendly and we’ve mostly spent our time kitten proofing (which involved moving the Lego city from the kitchen to the bedroom with them in the apartment) and running them around. 🙂 The set came with some pretty cool new parts, including olive plants.
