After downtime and editing in Pennsylvania, we headed south into Maryland.
On the way to Baltimore, we stopped in a small town called Havre de Grace. We got someone who lives there to say it for us, since we were uncertain of how Americans would cope with a name of obvious French origin. Check out the video to get the pronunciation (amongst other things):
So yes, it’s been fairly anglicized as /hævər dɨˈɡreɪs/. We met several people there who had all moved there later in life. It was a very lovely area and we can see why they did:
