After waiting for months and being present for countless hours of construction, we have our new pool! We have already shown you the new gym, but the pool opened a few days later with a big grand opening pool party. It is a much bigger pool than the one we have been using for the last few months. It is actually possible to swim laps in them without nearly immediately turning around for instance. Of course, it also has the advantage of being much closer to our apartment than the other pool as well in addition to having more facilities like loos, showers, gas grills and being heated in the cooler months.
An unexpected knock on effect to the pool opening is that the apartment community actually feels more like a community. People are milling around outside all the time, using the pool, the grills and the seating around the pool and the clubhouse. People are in the gym at all times of the day and night. It has made it a more socially active place to be. I have seen loads of people I have never seen before. I actually had little idea of just how many people live there. It is quite a big community.
We have been to the new pool every day it’s been open, sometimes twice a day as the proximity makes going before work nearly as feasible as after. Chris has tried out a few things he had never done before, throwing around an American football with a neighbor and attempting to float on seven pool noodles at one time:
We have used the grills several times now too. It has been nice not having to drag charcoal with us, but more than that, a much stronger degree of temperature control is possible and they heat up quite quickly.
Now that the pool, clubhouse and gym are all back in service, this place also truly feels like what it is intended to: resort style living. 🙂
By the way, apologies on the massive delay in publication of this post. The pool opened in August and it’s fall now. Chris really wanted to do the video editing himself and he has just been that busy with his actual job that he didn’t have time to edit the video until now. I do the vast majority of the editing since my work is much more variable with busy weeks and slow weeks.
Here is the video:
