There has been ongoing renovation in our apartment community since late January. The renovation is of the pool, gym and office building, so as we have prime pool access, we also have quite the view of the construction being carried out on the pool. At first, I must admit, I was worried this would be a nuance. Naturally, there is some noise, but it at least seems more productive and faster than most of the building projects we saw in Britain. Noise is also just less of an issue as the buildings are clearly far better insulated than our regency era flat was in the UK, where a passing bus was enough to make the whole place shake.
We have got to see some interesting things, the most interesting of which was the installation of our new palm trees. These are the properly huge kind, so the word ‘plant’ feels insufficient for all of the heavy equipment needed to make this happen. It also took several hours to get even a few secured.
